Mexican rice is one of the most well-liked and adaptable foods in Mexican cuisine, which is renowned for its potent and savory dishes. This mouthwatering and simple to prepare dish is ideal as a satisfying main course or side dish to any dinner. The traditional Mexican rice recipe that is provided here is guaranteed to wow your family and guests.
Ingredients:
•2 cups of long-grain white rice
•3 cups of chicken or vegetable broth
•1 can of diced tomatoes (14.5 oz)
•1 onion, finely chopped
•2 cloves of garlic, minced
•1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and minced (optional)
•2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
•1 teaspoon of cumin
•Salt and pepper to taste
•Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions:
1. Drain the rice after giving it a good rinse in cold water. This keeps the rice from getting too sticky and helps to eliminate extra starch.
2. Heat the oil in a big pot over medium heat. Cook the chopped onion, garlic, and jalapeo pepper (if using) for approximately 5 minutes, or until the onion is transparent.
3. Add the rice and stir continuously for 2 to 3 minutes, or until the rice is gently browned and covered with oil.
4. Include the cumin, salt, pepper, and chopped tomatoes along with the chicken or veggie broth. To blend, thoroughly stir.
5. After the mixture comes to a boil, turn the heat down to low and cover the saucepan. Cook the rice at a simmer for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the liquid is completely absorbed.
6. Turn off the heat and let the pot rest covered for five minutes.
7. Add fresh cilantro as a garnish and fluff the rice with a fork.
Enjoy your flavorful rice from Mexico! This dish goes nicely with any main meal that has a Mexican flavor, including fajitas, tacos, or enchiladas. In addition, by substituting vegetable broth for the chicken broth, it may be served as a stand-alone vegetarian or vegan meal. To feed a larger group, this dish may simply be doubled or quadrupled. It is easy to prepare yet highly tasty and enjoyable. Try it out for yourself to judge.
